One of the most exciting and innovative arcade fighting games every, Street Fighter II took arcade gaming to a new level with its amazing controls and detailed presentation. Players had a choice of eight different characters to do battle with for the prize of the ultimate street fighter. The final boss, M. Bison is still seen as one of the most evil final bosses ever put into a video game. Street Fighter II was also known for its fun little mini-game between fights where you bashed car body kits into pieces using special moves as fast as you could. Ryu

Really, there is no other choice. When people think of Street Fighter they think of Ryu, the quiet and powerful Japanese martial artists and his patented Hadoken (“surge fist”) special move which shoots a ball of energy out of his outstretched hands. Ryu was seen as the ultimate good guy and has been portrayed in movies and comics. You won’t find a more emblematic character in the Street Fighter franchise.

Blanka

Blanka was an interesting new character in that he was bright green and was mysteriously half man half animal. In the ending of Street Fighter II it is revealed that Blanka was once fully man but was raised in the wild after a horrible plane crash. Blanka’s patented move is his electrical storm protection that emits a powerful protective and hostile shield around his body. Both frightening and heroic, Blanka is one of the great Street Fighter II characters.

Dhalism

Another unique character in the franchise, Dhalism was one of the most fun and frustrating characters in Street Fighter II. Using an Indian, Yoga-influenced fighting style, Dhalism was able to stretch his legs and arms to greater than normal lengths, allowing him to be a formidable long-distance fighter. Dhalism was also known for his “Yoga Flame” signature move where he blew fire out of his mouth. A unique and multicultural addition to the franchise, one could never forget Dhalism.
