Lego games are going to work out. Star wars was great, because it was still novel and because it already had a great line of lego toys to build (heh) off of. As all these specialty lego lines (like harry potter) keep rolling out and the series seems more and more commercialized, it’s also less fun. The only thing up there that’s any surprise is the level creator. I’ve always wanted a full fledged lego builder with a wide variety of parts to place on vast landscapes. That ideas was what made banjo kazooie: n&b so fun; it was pretty much a lego builder with over the top parts and a fun physics engine. This feature might be what makes or breaks the series for me.

Lego games are fun for the whole family, young and old, the animated lego movie links to the gaming threads are wild & wicked and worth the purchase on their merits alone. The format for batman is much like the lucasfilm game sets, just not directly connected to any particular movies. Although (thankfully) the danny elfman music (circa 1989) runs throughout the game, the style is generic batman via lego land. The villains have teamed up to escape arkham asylum and the dynamic duo must stop them. Each villain has a story arc to unlock, before free play is possible in the related locations. So like the previous installments, replay value is high, you can return to the story setting later as several optional characters including the villians themselves in order to find hidden “trophies” to build in wayne manor (part of the batcave hub, where menus, story progress and unlockables lie). This way the same tales have many variations for players to explore, collecting the coin-like “studs” as currency for upgrades and unlockables. There’s roughly about 30 separate levels to play, 15 in the hero chapters and 15 levels i the villain chapters. Lego batman characters have individual moves, batman for example can put baddies in a choke hold and throw them. An exciting addition to lego combat is the batarang, which will lock on targets for distance attacks. Introduced also, are special suits for batman and robin, these make certain combinations of characters a necessity for passing stages or solving puzzles.

Lego games are, unsurprisingly, quite kid and spouse friendly. As anyone with a pulse will know, lego indiana jones: the original adventures is coming out in 2008, fulfilling the dreams of millions. Not only do we have lego star wars and the promise of lego batman, but lucasarts (and traveller’s tales) are apparently.

Lego games are casual games? any game that required pixel perfect jumps, has action based levels and is designed to be played by 12 year old boys is not “casual” by any stretch of the imagination. If any of the lego games are “casual” then, games like mega man should be considered casual too. It is a really simple formula. If you cannot picture your mom playing the game, then its not “casual”.

I think it’s about the best game released this gen so far for overall playability and adventure platforming retro pleasures. Not so sure about this sudden surge in pretend music games. As a musician i think they are all generally horrid. Learn to play and sing for real ffs. And gain something which is both a pastime and a pleasure you can always enjoy. Even perhaps when the lights go out in 10 years.

Lego games are great but i’m not sure people will invest a ton of time to look like a lego toon with a plastic sword or spear. World of warcraft is a phenomenon – change one significant thing about it, and it would not be what it is nor have the subscribers it does. World of warcraft is not a hardcore gamer phenomenon – it’s nearly perfectly balanced which is shown by it’s subscriber population – unless you are clinically retarded it’s easy as pie for anyone over the age of about twelve to play and learn.

Once you begin your new adventure as. You’ll have the luxury of completing the first level, when this level is done you go back to the. The batcave is essentially the college in indiana lego. Here you can find mission sets; there are three chapters, each containing five levels. Each chapter has different gotham evils to battle. Other stuff you can find in the batcave is the bat computer, which has data, unlockable characters, extras, codes, story clips and a neat little addition, suit upgrades.

Lego games are good, and considering the poor gameplay and general boringness of the other hp games, i was hoping for a satisfying hp game experience. Maybe someday they’ll make a hp game that isn’t aimed at small children, or spend as much time developing good controls as they do trying to replicate dan radcliffe as a video game character. Lego games are more like parodies with lot of jokes (including some spicy ones). Also, this “slip” happens quite often in the gaming industry so it might be true. Oh well, we’ll have to wait and see. On march 13, 2009, 04:15 pm.

Lego games are kid-friendly, easy to understand and great for kids aged 4 and up.

Lego games are fun for kids and adults. And they represent a refreshing departure from the carnage of a first person shooter or the obsessive head banging from guitar hero like games. For the few of you that aren’t up to speed on the lego video games, it usually revolves loosely around the storyline of the particular movie property, and includes collecting lego studs in order to buy more abilities and characters. Game players wind their way through a storyline that is loosely based on the hit movie. They challenge the same evil characters, but in a very tongue and cheek fashion. And harry potter is tailor made for the legoverse. Using magic to grab studs, disarm bad guys’ wands, even flying around and playing quidditch. The characters are great for kids to play with, and let’s face it, kids are the engine that runs not only harry potter, but the legoverse as well. Just look at this video of harry potter lego’s in action:.

Lego games are particularly good. Technically and graphically average, the levels are devoid of life and interest, they’re often poorly textured and dully lit – the actual level design is completely contrived and often illogical, clearly designed for replaying rather than anything. Strange games these lego-centric romps through popular film sets. I think if you play with your head, you’ll see all the myriad flaws that lurk under the skin. Play with your heart and you’ll get far more out of it. On the one hand, i think all right thinking people love or have loved lego at some time in their lives and the fact that all the games are well rendered and filled with cutesy bricks and people and all the noises and sound effects are nicely reminiscent of banging blocks together means that theres a level of emotive connection here that you don’t normally get with a game. On the other hand, and lets be entirely honest, underneath all the lego nostalgia and plastic appeal, none of the lego games are particularly good.

http://gaygamer.net/2008/10/review_lego_batman.html
Lego games are told on such a wide, shallow stage, there are some depth issues that hamper the fun. It’s kind of alarming that traveler’s tales has taken us through seven films and one beloved comic universe without tuning some of the basic mechanical issues. In some ways lego batman’s issues are worse than lego indiana jones: there are ladders to climb that look straight but need to be climbed at a random. (and occasionally inconsistent). Angle, as well as big glidey jumps that should be simple but aren’t, because the angle of the camera doesn’t let you see how off-center you are. A more fluid camera would have made all the difference in the world. (in other words, if i have to fly across a gap, please let me see the friggin’ gap. Just about everybody is talking about the villain levels, which you unlock after completing one of the game’s three main story arcs. It’s hands-down the best part of the game, since you’ll be replaying the story you’ve just finished from the bad guys’ point of view – across mostly new environments. Batman’s great and all, but he’s more than a bit wooden by nature, and sashaying across the screen as poison ivy or the riddler is just too rich in comparison. I found myself hurrying through the main game to get to the villain levels, and that’s not even taking free mode into consideration.

Lego games are best when played with a friend. Not having the two player option takes away a great deal of the fun. Has been developed by traveller’s tales and is the company’s fifth game in the lego franchise.

Lego games are typically cute with low brow humor. But with these basic expectations in mind, it would be almost too easy for traveller’s tales to pull the rug out from under us and surprise us. Well, they don’t, and we don’t really want them to because lego batman is fun and mindlessly enjoyable. Traveller’s tales have made all the lego + licensed property games (lego: star wars, lego: indiana jones) and now they’ve done batman. Skilled programmers or not, they’ve hit pay dirt with this lego+lp franchise, as it’s lucrative business and they’re the go to guys to make it happen. The story in lego batman is understandably paper thin, a group of villains break out of arkham asylum and split into 3 groups, each group led by a well known villain (the joker, penguin, the riddler). So this sets up the basic level layout for the game. 3 chapters, 5 levels each chapter for batman and robin to get through. Wait a sec, 15 levels? that’s all? ah, so there in lies the rub. There are another 15 villain levels too, just as puzzling and cute, somewhat more humorous than the batman & robin levels. These aren’t just tacked on either. They’re as well thought out as the batman & robins levels. There is something deeply satisfying about playing as a villain and helping them succeed, perhaps it’s because being the bad guy is infinitely more fun.

Lego games are absolutely brilliant. They are as fun for kids as they are for adults. Ween — dean ween (mickey melchiondo):. I even went so far as to build all of the ships and attain true jedi status on every level, unlocking the “secret door” for the bonus at the end. Nine black alps — david jones:. Lego games are renowned for their tongue-in-cheek take on the movies. While this game is completely kid-friendly,. It’s the adults who will most appreciate. Their gentle irreverence surprises and delights. This game inspires immediate affection and addicting curiosity about “what next?” in both new players and in anyone who loves the original trilogy. Games is the string of puzzles you must solve in order to make it through the game. These puzzles challenge you to use teamwork, character-switching and special moves to get past obstacles, overcome enemies and escape from traps.

Lego games are meant for kids and we whine about how horrible they are and how they should die, when they are in fact some of the better games aimed at kids. It’s better to have kids playing this than something like imagine pet sitter or whatever crap other people are putting out. At least we have a gaming brand in lego that kids can get for all systems that parents will buy and aren’t put together in 5 minutes. The game will let you swap between at least the three main characters: hermione granger, ron.

Lego games are meant to be kid-friendly, but perhaps it’s time to replace the series-standard ? and none-too-effective ? adaptive difficulty with user-selected difficulty levels. Lego star wars: the complete saga. As the second-best of tt’s lego games. We only pray that gamers will not be insulted by the same sort of double-dipping which made. So unbearable in spite of its excellence. As much as we’d have liked to see features such as online co-op included in. , we’d much prefer to see traveller’s tales forge ahead into a new license for the next lego game while learning from the mistakes of past installments. For now, we can be thankful that it’s fun to bust up legos in tt’s gotham city.

There are lots and lots of different reasons why they are successful i think but, above all, they are games that anyone can play, with no barriers to entry, where just moving around as a character immediately feel fun.

Just picked up star wars complete saga for ps3 at the very attractive price of $19. I played lego batman last fall and it was equally entertaining. I’ve still yet to play the indiana jones one, though. Crystal skull left that bad a taste in my mouth, even though i know that film is not featured in the game.

http://www.totalvideogames.com/LEGO-Batman/review-13323.html
Lego games are like pixar movies in the sense that they appeal to adults as much as they do to young children, making them perfect for family friendly fun. The choices of star wars, indiana jones, and now batman as the basis for these lego games are a perfect example of this. All three have stories and characters so well established that both parents and children can relate to them. The parodying cut-scenes between each level have always been funny, as much to hardened game journalists like us as they are to the average 7 year-old. For the first time with batman, however, tt won’t be drawing upon film licenses for the game’s story. Instead, a fairly rudimentary batman plot has been woven into the game, which has been divided into three separate campaigns to mirror the format of the previous lego titles, all of which drew from trilogies. It all begins when gotham city’s most nefarious super-villains escape from arkham asylum (they really should get some higher security gates there or something) and start unravelling their various plots to bring chaos to gotham once again. Three groups of super-villains emerge led by the riddler, the penguin, and the joker, while each ring-leader has enlisted help from gotham’s criminal elite to bring their plans to fruition. For example, the riddler recruits the assistance of clayface, poison ivy, mr. Freeze, and two-face for his particular portion of the game’s story. His goal is to rob the saving’s from gotham’s bank, utilising the various powers of each clan member to help him carry out his evil deeds. You’ll face-off against each super-villain before finally foiling the riddler during the story-arcs climax.

http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/PSP/LEGO+Batman:+The+Videogame/review.asp?c=9463
Lego games are, generally speaking, the best things in the universe. A game of a toy of a film may sound like a one way express elevator to marketing hell but somehow, against the odds (including the fact that usually developer traveller’s tales aren’t that good) they’re exactly the opposite. Games show such an endearingly obvious love for both the movies and lego itself that it’s almost impossible not to enjoy them. In fact they’re so good that they immediately shame every other kids’ title ever made and prove that games aimed primarily at children should be the most inclusive, not the least. , though, is a slightly different proposition as this is based on no specific film or even medium, with the music from tim burton’s films, lots of visual steals from the ’90s cartoon and the glorious silliness of the ’60s tv show. (oddly the two chris nolan films are barely hinted at.

The complete saga was in my opinion the best and had a ton of shit to do. Getting 2 games for less than the price of one is always good. I wonder if you will get true dark knight for collecting enough studs in a level. I thought there were too few levels in indy, but i guess after playing tcs which has 6 chapters for each of the 6 movies it’s gonna feel short. F*** harry potter lets see some lego lord of the rings.

Lego games are poorly made, and get boring very quick. It seems like every franchise is getting a lego game. I mean, are the younger gamers even that into them, anymore?. “lego: the lego game chapter one: 1980-1990, the awkward-block years”. As a lego block, building lego in legoland.

Lego games are going and makes the tweaks and additions necessary to keep the franchise relevant. Perhaps the worst thing you can say about lego indy is that it is not as instantly likeable as the lego star wars games, and that it’s more of a relationship you’ll have to work at instead of being the love at first sight travellers tales’ previous efforts were.

Lego games are designed with people like me in mind. The have the option to allow another person to join the game with you on the same screen. No more taking turns with some one else who wants to play. In this version of legos you get to play through all the 6 episodes and their individual chapters. You don’t have to stick with 1 particular character. In fact you have to switch characters throughout.

http://gadgets.boingboing.net/2008/02/08/lego-indiana-jones-v.html
Lego games are just for kids, merely that they are trying to only capture that simpler and purer tone, rather than the more layered representation usually found in the subject matter they represent.

http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=55526
The comic influence is perhaps best represented in the backgrounds of the game. This is easily the richest lego title in terms of visual detail, especially when you check out places like arkham asylum and gotham city cathedral. Even in settings designed to look like gloomy corners of gotham, the colors still find a way to jump out. ’s calling cards will be the sheer number of characters you’re going to see and use in the game. Instead of simply plowing through as batman and robin, you also get to play as several villains in the batman universe, such as the joker and the penguin. The villains have their own missions, attacks (the joker’s got a joy buzzer) and special abilities. While one of batman’s missions will be to save commissioner gordon, players can also have the joker and harley quinn attempt to kidnap him. Both heroes and villains even have their own “hub” levels — arkham for the villains, the batcave for the good guys.

Lego games are great for co-op because they have something that can appeal to everyone. Who wouldn’t like cute little lego people running around in star wars, indiana jones, or batman scenes? no one, thats who. They offer just the right combination of challenge and fun that they are great to play as a whole family.

Lego games are a lot of fun, trust me.

http://www.games2c.com/psp/synopsis/?gpid=2989&sec=psp
Lego games are obvious – you‘ll need a sense of humour and an attraction to quirky gameplay to get the most from this title. All three movies are interspliced throughout the gameworld with memorable moments from each adventure (such as the boulder run from lost ark) popping up along the way. Indy has a cool new ability of picking up enemy hats to use as a disguise in order to access secret or restricted levels which adds a touch of stealth derpth. But the real fun lies in combat which from what we‘ve seen is very much the same type of button bashing mechanic found in the star wars games. Indy has his whip and his fists – at least at the start. , and he knows how to make good use of both in equal measure. With the big screen big brother doing the business in the cinema, we only have a few weeks until 6th of june to see if the videogame version can pull off the double. Our money is on indy, every time.

Lego games are getting to be like movie games, every single thing that comes will turn into a lego game eventually. Lego mario, link, metroid, kirby, kung fu panda. No, everything except rock band has been a lego franchise before its game.

http://amongthedust.blogspot.com/2009/02/lego-batman.html
Lego games are built around the idea of co-operative play. At all times you have not one but two heroes on screen, and a friend with a second controller can drop in and out of the festivities at their whim. This worked well in the original. But has been a cause of histrionics and grief ever since. Both players are bound to a single screen, despite some puzzles which really need you to split up. Attempting to move more than a screen away from your partner will drag them along behind you, usually to their death, or cause them to pop out of existence and respawn closer to you, sometimes in a location which is either fatal or inescapable. There’s no option to play two-player over xbox live or the playstation network, but that’s okay because the co-op here is a friend-losing proposition anyway. Sadly, letting the computer control your buddy isn’t much better, as the ai takes a cheerful pleasure in getting in your way, pushing you to your death, and refusing to help you with the co-operative puzzles. The buggy ai may serve to distract you from the rest of the game, which is also riddled with glitches. Respawns occur in broken positions, secret canisters refuse to appear, characters get stuck in inappropriate animations, and achievements inexplicably don’t unlock. There’s only so many times that you can write the woeful playtesting off as all part of the childlike joy of lego before it becomes time to bring out the murderin’ axe.

Lego games are aimed at a younger audience, but i think for. The first reason is that my younger sister had trouble with the difficulty level. In most cases, developers tend to dummy down the game a lot when they have a license for a kid’s oriented product. The second reason is connected to another. Game that is coming out for the pc. The pc version will fall into the action/rpg genre, which is usually reserved for an older audience. While the game may be difficult for even an older audience, that doesn’t mean that it’s unplayable. The key is to learn certain tactics to give you an edge. For example, it can be a good idea to memorize the places where the enemies come from. Another good idea is to try to move really fast so you don’t get mauled.

Lego games are cool, but i think the gameplay itself is getting stale. The batman one had the additional ability to play as the villains, so that was a change of pace. I like the humor in them still and will play these. They certainly are moneymakers for traveller’s tale and whatever publisher each game is tied to.

Lego games are good examples of what casual games should be like. Easy to jump into, undemanding, but still with enough variety, charm and depth to carry it all off. I haven’t had time to sit down with this latest lego incarnation yet, but i’m hoping that they mix things up a bit. While the lego star wars games were solid, they definitely took the formula about as far as it could go. Fanboy fantasy as more lego indy screenshots emerge, and format is confirmed. Exclusive online content for 360 a possibility?.

http://www.xboxelite.co.uk/reviews.php?do=view&id=118
Lego games are designed with two people in mind but the 360 does a fine job of filling in for the billy no-mates out there. I think, i wouldn’t know of course. The main mode of play for indy is story mode. This is a linear play through of each level in sequence in film chronological order. As you complete each level, you then unlock free play mode for that area and this is where the replayability and the magic comes in. Each level is littered with bonuses and booty, which is this season’s must have for completists and score whores. It is of course impossible to pick up all these goodies in story mode so free play mode gives you a second bite of the cherry. Free play allows you to choose appropriate characters, and more importantly skill-sets, to solve all the puzzles and gain all the prizes along the way. An example might be that there is a treasure chest tucked away behind a pit of venomous snakes only accessible via a small gap. Now, we can all forgive indy for thinking twice about getting that as his on-screen phobia is replicated in the game. He cries like a little girl and freezes every time he is near a snake so maybe the unlockable character of shorty who can get through the gap and past the snakes can help – hence we unlock, we go back and we replay. There are 60 characters to unlock with many having unique abilities so as such there are plenty of options to mix it up a little.

Throughout the game, players will also have the freedom to explore iconic settings from the wizarding world including hogwarts castle, diagon alley, the forbidden forest and the village of hogsmeade. ” in other words: imagine the humor and gameplay of lego: star wars or lego: indiana jones but with tween-age wizards and whatnot. When i get more definite details, screenshots and trailers, you’ll be the first to know. I am not a 12 year old girl, so i don’t really care about harry potter, but there is more than one fellow editor here at g4 who passionately defends the boy wizard and would probably be willing to fight me for dissing him and his spell-casting cohorts. ‘ lego efforts began with lego star wars, which was released on just about every platform out there in various versions. All versions have been fairly well-received by critics. The starwars-themed lego games were followed up with lego indiana jones recently, which was also well-received. All of the lego games thus-far have been praised for surprisingly engaging gameplay that is fun for just about anyone. The controls are easy to master, the character’s antics and traveller’s tales adaptation of the subject matter is fun and quirky. Dying simply results in a loss of points so younger or inexperienced players can enjoy them too. More serious players will enjoy collecting lego studs, bricks and unlocking new characters, all of which contribute to the replay value of the games. The main complaint with the lego series overall is the gross stupidity of your lego allies. Fortunately, you can kill them or shove them out of the way with no penalty, or just have a friend play with you (and hope that your friend is smarter than the ai). Some of the puzzles can be a little obscure as well but once you get the hang of the puzzle style it’s mostly a matter of solving the puzzle while fighting back the flow of evil henchmen.

Lego games are great do you think there is room for lego avengers or justice league.

Lego games are meant to be able to be picked up by just about anybody. The controls are fairly simple, and once you get down the four-button arrangement, you can make your way through the game with little problem. Dying in the game is inevitable, but there is very little penalty. You lose a few “studs” but respawn exactly where you died (or a nearby ledge). Each character has a special ability. These are fairly obvious, and are often prompted on-screen with little messages or highlighted objects. All of the characters are lego mini-figures, animated to be more flexible, but retaining their signature shape and facial expressions. As mentioned, each has a special ability. Indy has his whip, female figures can jump higher than male, and some are educated and can decode hieroglyphics on the wall to open doors. These kind of things were also in star wars, but indy takes it a step further. In star wars, you needed one of each character needed to solve the puzzle with you. In indy, there are objects around the level you can pick up in order to let any character solve that puzzle. If there is a buried object and you don’t have a digger, there will be a shovel nearby so that indy (or another character) can pick it up and dig out the object. This is also the case for hieroglyphic books, wrenches, and enemy hats.

Lego games are all based on the simple premise of everything in the worlds is made up of blocks from lego playsets. Already the game strikes a chord with us because most of us have played with lego’s growing up and i at least imagined creating vast worlds until i ran out of blocks. Schwartz and toy’s r us began building huge statues of king kong and godzilla out of lego’s to attract users. Traveler’s tales looked at this lovingly and have honed their craft to bring us their latest attraction lego batman. Coming off the high that was lego indiana jones, coincidentally the caped crusader killed at the box office and people were all excited about batmania once again. The first problem for me was the story. Now i’m a fan of the batman comics and movies (yes even the first series). But where i feel that the previous lego games connected with us, watching the familiar scenes from movies we adored played out in silent scenes, this title is missing. You see, this game isn’t based on any particular movie, comic, or cartoon series. It is an original story that manages to get as many of the characters in as possible.

Lego games are meant to be played with a friend at close proximity on a single tv. But with how advanced the xbox live service is there really is no excuse why online multiplayer wasn’t included. It’s practically the same damn thing as sitting side by side with a friend. It seems the developers just were too lazy or didn’t have the time to program it in. Either way, after four previous lego games, a lack of inclusion with their fifth installment is pretty disappointing. Being the fifth game in a series of lego games, lego batman doesn’t really bring a whole lot of new to the table. Yes, it offers up a new property besides something owned by lucas, along with an original story but the core game is exactly the same. As they say; beauty is only skin deep and lego batman is that same old hooker you’ve been messing around with for years, she just looks different. However, on a personal level, i had fun with the game. I played through with a buddy by my side and we laughed like happy little children all the way up to the ending credits. And that’s what matters in a game like this. When you can look back and at least say you had fun and it kept a smile on your face. So if you got a friend hanging around and love batman, this game is worth the purchase. For everyone else, lego batman is at least worth a rental when you got some spare time.

Lego games are a simple mixture of escapism and retro. All of the charm of the previous games is still here and the title is once again laced with humour. The sound is similar to past offerings and the soundtrack is lifted from the famous 1989 batman film, courtesy of the legendary danny elfman. Some complaints have surfaced already that the audio should have been more diverse, but i personally rate elfman’s score as the definitive modernday soundtrack.

Lego games are filled with industry breaking game play ideas. You take an established franchise, reduce the story to cute little cutscenes filled with the trademark lego “honor the original canon but don’t take it too seriously” humor, have characters be able to build things (that’s the lego part of the title), have multiple characters (the transformers part of the title) that have different abilities or effects on the environment that players can switch through, have easy to pick up and play multiplayer, and stuff it absolutely full of extras. Now, if he needs you to give it a little bit of extra oomph you look at what makes transformers transformers. Well, careful analysis of the name indicates that they transform. That can effectively double the things you can do with a character, which is great. Let’s say each character has a transform button switching them between vehicle and humanoid mode. Humanoid mode controls much like the other lego games would, vehicle mode controls like the vehicle sections of lego star wars ii or the complete saga. This lets the action flow fluidly between vehicle and non-vehicle segments. Now this and the simple fact of the large size of the characters would mean that levels would have to be at a larger scale and a bit larger than in any of the earlier titles. I imagine fast vehicle combat sections, fighting in a larger area, probably having to destroy some sort of enemy spawn device, then switch to character mode to do some platforming or puzzle solving. In fact the aspect of scale could give a bit more legs to the old “small” character archtype, as many characters would simply be too large to enter buildings and whatnot. Now, if tt really wanted, lego transformers could really be a chance for their franchise to move out of it’s comfort zone a little bit. It would be a perfect opportunity to really expand the concept of the overworld that was previously represented by the cantina/college/batcave (i assume) and make it an area with actual exploration, collection, combat, etc. This would really take advantage of the basic capabilities of a transformer, which is instantly available fast travel. It could be something like an up-sized version of the old lego city or lego town levels, a more organic, open world for the player to start in.

Lego games are fantastic fun on your own, but the best thing about them is that they’re great fun to play through with your kids. Two players can take part at the same time, and with all characters having infinite lives (dying just sees your character re-appear in a safe spot on the screen), there’s very little frustration for the little ones. Although the game is aimed at kids aimed 7+, there’s no content that will upset younger children, and you may be surprised how well even 5 year olds can play the game. If you’re not into games yourself, or you’re looking for something safe to play with your kids, you really can’t do much better than this. Be warned though, some of the puzzles can be a little tricky, so check out the guide on our links list to the right if you get stuck.

Lego games are made for younger game players doesn’t take away from the experience in one bit. Unlike most so-called “kids games” lego batman isn’t unbearable for the more adult players who might pick it up. It has moments of real humor that actually made me laugh out loud. That is not an easy thing to do since, like all lego games, there is no spoken dialog. There are many games out there but i can’t think of any that are not only well made, but are great for what they are. Many games try to be great but fall short on many occasions. Lego batman isn’t going to win any game of the year award, but that doesn’t stop it from being a great game. Some small flaws in collision detection can be found, but all in all the game is very well made. In most game series the quality falls way off as more and more games are made. Especially when it comes to the “kids game” on the market. The lego games have not fallen into that same trap as of yet. Lego batman goes beyond most if not all “kids games” on the market. At the same time it’s a game that can be played and enjoyed by just about anyone. Over all lego batman isn’t the best game ever made, but it just may be the best lego game ever.

Lego games are with their movie games anyway. Also, all those lego games work really well for parents to play with their kids. I don’t see this as an exception so far.

Lego games are really about good old fashioned fun”. When i asked him what made it so much fun, he said “funny, but i can’t quite put my finger on that”. Without realizing it, he made a profound statement on how games are built and played today. Are we actually still having fun with our games?. I often find myself longing back to the classics of old. When the mood strikes me, i pull out games going back as far as 1991. Games such as civilization, x-com and the original dune regularly appear on my screen and sid’s colonization even has a permanent home on my hard drive. I have long wondered why it was that these old, crappy looking games still appeal to me as much as they do. Why do i grab back to civilization for dos while civilization iv is a fabulous game, offering many cool features that sid could only dream of when he first laid the foundations for the franchise back in the 90’s?. The answer isn’t actually that hard to find. All you need to do is have a close look at how games have evolved over the last two decades. When you do, you will find two tightly connected reasons for why the gaming in the good old days was so different. And no, it isn’t all about nostalgia.

Lego games are made means you need to swap between characters in order to complete certain tasks. So at some point you’ll need to be luke in order to use a firing weapon and grapple hooks, other times you’ll need to use the force so you have to play as obi wan, and of course there are doors and such like that only droids can open, so you’ll often have to be r2d2 and c3po. On your way through each part of the episode you can collect lego studs. Collect the allotted amount for each part and you’ll get true jedi status, meaning you have achieve one of 99 achievements in the game. Beware though, dying means you lose studs. Studs are either lying around to be collected, or they’re found back breaking everything in sight. Also you need to collect canisters, there are 10 in each part, and once you’ve collected all 10 they add together to become a lego vehicle. Some canisters can only be obtained on the freeplay for each part, because they’re either too high for the characters available in story mode, or you need a character that can do dark force, or you need to be a small character. This means you’ll have to do every level at least twice if you want to complete the entire game. Mos eisley’s cantina is the hub of the game, here you select which episode and part you want to play, you can also use your studs to buy extras like huge blasters, or invincibility. You can buy extra characters to use in the freeplay games, or you can create you’re own character, swapping the heads, bodies and legs of all the characters in the game.

Where’s the fun when you can only destroy a couple of benches and a streetlamp?. The audio gives the gamer what is to be expected from a batman game. They’ve thrown in many themes from the movies, but have done it rather haphazardly. Most of the time, the music lines up with the story and cutscenes, but every once in a while you’ll have thrilling, the-boss-is-around-the-corner music when you’re in a dusty alleyway with a rat and an underwater-suit robin and nothing else. I’d just like to stop and mention the magnetic suit right now. It’s a neat concept and i like the execution, but when robin’s every step is clanging like two garbage can lids wielded by the energizer bunny, it can get really annoying really fast. Just ask my roommates who were trying to sleep during a level filled with robin’s gravity defying suit. It’s like a scene from transformers, but not cool. The multiplayer is generic multiplayer, no bells or whistles, and you can still create your own character. In the end, lego batman is just a crappier version of lego star wars or lego indiana jones but with a guy in a cape.

Lego games are, unsurprisingly, quite kid and spouse friendly, but at the same time enjoyable by your more typical gamer. Several rumors about the next game in the lego”series have been floating around. ” the most popular rumor was that lego”harry potter would be next, what with the release of the next movie in the series this summer. ” a lego”version of potter’s wild wizarding world would seem both a natural fit for the franchise, and a way to pretty much print money. It seems 2009 will not see the release of. , though, according to a senior source from eurogamer. ” but a new lego game in an old series may be an option. “you never know,” he (tt”producer loz doyle) replied. “there’s always the possibility that we would revisit a franchise. And you never know, it might not be the end of star wars, it might not be the end of indy – we keep our options open.

Who doesn’t remember the first time they started playing with lego. They are the cool blocks you can build awesome structures characters with. The cool thing about these building blocks is that they are 3d and quite sturdy. The games on the other hand, take place in the city. Most of the topics are coast guards, fire trucks, trains, ambulances and much more. The games are fun for the family and easy to play. There is not much thinking involved, just load the game and start playing. These games are also not that educational, but that is not a problem, because they are for entertainment purposes.

Lego games are successful is that they reach out to such a broad audience. Both gamers, and anyone who likes the franchises they. Honour? lampoon? it just seems unlikely that they’d make a lego game of another game. I can’t see it selling too well. I’m a mod, come to me if there’s mod’n to do. Yeah i really loved the lego star wars: the complete saga for the 360, i’ve only tried the demo of indy, and even though it looked good, i wouldn’t want to pick up the game seeing as it only covers 3/4 movies, if they’re first going to make a game, do it of all the movies.

Lego games are all highly-recommended adventures where you relive the blockbuster movies through lego creations. Two players can work together to battle bad guys, overcome harrowing obstacles, and build lego creations. Full of great humour and puzzling challenges (rated “e”). Suggested age = 10+(tip – also available for the playstation 2). Most sports simulations are available for all systems and are rated “e”. Do to their complexity i suggest a minimum age of 10+recommended hockey games include nhl 09 and nhl2k9for basketball fans there’s nba live 2009 all playsoccer is unquestionably ruled by fifa soccer 2009for the best in golf i suggest tiger woods 09and there is no better football game than madden nfl 09.

Lego games are all about interacting with the lego structures, but you don’t really interact with anythign in rb except the note highway. You could just as easilly put out “x-men: rock band” or “spongebob: rock band”. It’s just a change of character type tacked onto a track pack. The trailer didn’t really show anything except. What you’d see in a regular game of rb except the character models. I don’t know how to get excited about that. I still see no reason, other than a strict cash-grab, for this game to exist. Literally, other than replacing normal rb characters with lego characters it appears to be exactly the same.

Lego games are fun, rock band is fun, but together, nothing is added and to me it sounds like just a kid friendly version with less controversial songs, not that the rock band songs are vulgar in any form of the word.

Lego games are based on long established but still prominent titles. Was the first one, and was a smash hit, and lego indiana jones the second. There’s a lego batman coming soon. Lego batman doesn’t take from the existing movie series (which series would you pick anyway?) but instead is built around the general universe, featuring baddies who haven’t made it to big time movie fame yet. I don’t think i’d be out of place to speculate spiderman being ripe for the lego treatment one day, but maybe his moving mechanic is too difficult to legotize. I have an awesome image in my head of lego schindler’s list, or possibly lego the english patient. Lego saving private ryan, with armless little lego men bouncing round. It’s hard to define exactly why the lego x format works so well. I think a big part of it is that the characters and situations are so familiar to us that the lego versions become almost a parody of the originals, but a kind of fun and loving parody.

Lego games are really monotonous. Getting the currency from every little block is hevily monotonous, no game overs remove all challenge, fighting requires no skill or thought, puzzles are too hard for seven year olds but too easy for hardcores, i just hate lego. Which is a shame, ecause i loved throwing it into my big brother’s bed when i was little.

I have batman, star wars, and indiana jones. The kids have been playing the batman for hours and hours. That one is probably the best of the three. You can get the star wars one for dirt cheap now, and it is pretty good. Not many games for young kids on the ps3. But i have noticed all the kids older than about 10 years old want to keep coming over to play the ps3. I guess at a certain age they outgrow the wii, and are telling me the wii is getting “baby-ish”.

Unlike many other previously released batman games, lego batman isn’t directly tied to any specific film or television adaptation—it draws from several forms of media featuring the caped crusader. But the goal, added earl, was to create.

Lego games are not blood and gore violient like other games. And it sparked creativity in my son — when he don’t play the lego games, he gets out his real legos and builds all kinds of things to make up his own “game”. The lego star wars came bundled with our wii and it seems pretty tame, actually a little slow moving so it’s probably very good for younger kids. My daughter rented the lego indiana jones and it was very similar, just different characters and instead of light sabers, they used ropes.

Why people keep buying them is an eternal mystery. If you’re going to waste your money on some lego fan service, though, why don’t you buy one of the older lego games and save some money? the original trilogy retells all of the lego movies using lego blocks. Really, do you need a video game to do this? oh, i see-you’re playing this with your girlfriend. Why don’t you get the cheaper lego game and buy her a nice dinner instead?. We’re looking for comments that are interesting, substantial or highly amusing.

Lego games are better for their charm and amusing retelling of the story then for their gameplay, which isn’t just blatantly the same every time, it’s never really that great. It feels good, and its easy to get into, but it really wasn’t that spectacular. I think they should put more money into the films and the actual games, where the real potential lies, and stop making these damn lego games without seriously rethinking the gameplay. Like, make a third person shooter lego game. I dunno, but something different and interesting.

Lego games are aimed at children, but its star wars & indiana jones games brought out nostalgia in fully grown adults. Its cheeky recreation of classic scenes, combined with the universal appeal of lego, has made this franchise a winner. Although previous games were good, the best moments at times were the cut scenes. Lego batman doesn’t follow any specific film or timeline, instead capturing as many elements as possible, from the camp 1960s iteration, right through to the 2008 dark knight. This is mostly done by suits located during stages, granting special powers to batman or robin. The plot involves batman’s enemies escaping from arkham asylum. Developer travellers tales has included as many of these as possible; from classic villain’s joker & penguin to the more random clayface or mad hatter. This gives a lot of variety when playing free play, as many characters have powers specifically linked to them. With star wars & indy, there were only a handful of characters that made a difference to gameplay. Here, theres a much, much wider selection. The emphasis is still on collecting studs, but playing completed levels from the villain’s perspective is a great addition, and works excellently.

Lego games are some serious fun in a box and it looks like their new indy lego game will be no different. We did not get to play the game but we did get to watch it being demoed on a nice hd screen. It looks like all the fun and humor of the previous lego games is intact. The fun thing about being invited to these special collector nights is the photo opportunities. My scrapbook is getting interesting.

Lego games are the hidden gems and puzzles that fill the gameplay areas. However, there are a few areas that seem to have been poorly designed. Some boss battles are hard to navigate through. The bosses themselves aren’t difficult to defeat, but the layout of the area makes it difficult to complete the mission. For those collectable junkies who just have an urge to collect anything and everything in every game,. The game is filled with things to find and uncover and there are plenty of things to hit and break to uncover gold and other little nice things. Games, there’s the ability to break up blocks of lego and build things, which in turn help you solve a puzzle or get to hidden areas. The environment isn’t 100% interactive, but most of it is breakable. Plants, spider webs, ladders and plenty of other stuff are all breakable, and these inturn reveal special little prizes for indy and his friend. There are ten artefacts on each level, which are worth finding and easily justify a second playthrough if you don’t get them the first time through.
